emacs segmentation fault

To emacs support staff,

I recently purchased a DELL Inspiron E1505 notebook

computer. I really like my E1505, but that computer came

with Windows XP. I have used GNU/Linux before and I wanted

that operating system again. I purchased a RedHat 'Fedora

5' Linux distribution to put on my E1505 notebook computer.

I installed that Linux operating system on my computer as

the only operating system. I deleted the Windows XP

operating system that came with the computer.

I do not have any internet access on my E1505 computer at

all right now, I use the town public library computers for

sending emails like this and browsing the web. I live 22

miles away from town, so I only get to the library once

every two weeks.

At public library in town, I accessed your www.gnu.org

website and downloaded your emacs file on to a USB flash

drive. I had no problem copying the emacs tar file from my

USB drive onto my computer. I read your INSTALL and README

files on my computer after I had extracted your emacs files

from the tar file I had downloaded at the library. But I

ran into problems following your installation directions.

I ran the installation '.configure' program with no

problem. But when I tried to run 'make' to build the emacs

executable, I ran into problems. I kept getting a

'segmentation fault' error as the last message on the

screen after 'make' had printed a whole bunch of messages

on my computer screen that it was doing things

successfully. I did 'make distclean' and 'make' several

times over. But I always got 'segmentation fault' message

on my terminal screen after running the 'make' command, and

always after 'make' had printed out a bunch of positive

messages saying everything was going alright. The last

message also said 'emacs' was being deleted.

Can you help me solve this problem? I really want to use

emacs. My telephone number is 1-760-257-3812 in the

southern California desert or you can email me. I would

definitely like your help. Thank you for reading this

message.

My email address is 'geodesicstar@yahoo.com'.
