Sort order of hidden files in dired

In previous versions of emacs/dired, the hidden files were listed first in a
dired and then all other files. Now they are by alphabetical order w/o regards
to the leading ".". Can I set something to restore the old behavior?

In GNU Emacs 22.1.1 (x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu, X toolkit, Xaw3d scroll bars)
