rmail can't delete message 10000 and later

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

Postmaster is a poor guy with 11000 messages. Unfortunately RMail can delete up 
to 
message 9999, but it cannot delete message 10000 and larger. Hitting 'd' just 
has 
no effect (in summary).
