IMO, the latter should not happen because of the context of that
function's execution.  Please followup here if you have a positive proof
that of the contrary.

So if you haven't done it already, please report this issue to the
Emacs.app maintainers. It's not guaranteed that they read this list.
The earlier they know about issues like this, the earlier the Emacs.app
code can be merged into emacs.
