in my xemacs (version 21.4.21) the at key ^
appears to be not defined. What is to be down to get
it typed properly?


I work with the US keyboard under Linux Mandriva
2009 Spring.

I'd suggest you upgrade to Emacs ;-)
Or else, report this bug to the relevant place (XEmacs is a different
program than Emacs).
