Like many hangs, this one can be interrupted with ctrl-g.
If you do M-x toggle-debug-on-quit beforehand, you can get a more
useful backtrace.
Anyway, although php-mode is not part of Emacs, this seems to be fixed
by cc-mode changes in the current trunk.
