bug#9185: 24.0.50; "C-s M-p" does not bring the tip of the search ring

Please, reconsider this.

I understand what you say, but IMO, clearly the advantages of the
current behavior (save one extra M-p) in no way makes up for the
drawbacks (counter intuitive behavior; no way to check the tip of the
search ring before using it).
