There's nothing unlispy in the other code. Sometimes simplicity can be
attained, and sometimes the answer is more complex.

Yes. let-bindings exist for a reason.

But the point is, it seems probable that the "" interface is more
according to what a get-char-code-property user would expect. At
least, it's what I would expect.
