Hello!
This seems to be a compiler issue. On Mac OS X 10.5.8, Leopard, I could
reproduce the same with GCC 4.2. When I reduced optimisation from -fast (Apple
convenience setting) to -O0 and -O1 all went fine. I'm going to increase the
level of optimisation and see the result.
Maybe there is some interference between the wide ints introduced, the merely
32-bit PPC architecture (PowerPC 7447A, "G4") and the -fast option which was
introduced for the "G5", the IBM PowerPC 970, complete 64-bit architecture.
