bug#12909: 23.4; Emacs server not shutting down when logging out of Ubuntu 12.10

Logging out of Ubuntu 12.10 (with the Unity desktop) of shutting down,
if Emacs server is running a prompt tells that a "program is running"
and if the user wants to shut it down. 

This seems a bug either in Gnome or Emacs. The desktop treats the daemon
as a regular program which it should not. It seems that it happens in
different desktops (I've seen reports on Gnome/KDE/XFCE). The
shutdown/log-out process is very slow, unless the server is killed
befored logging out. 

If Emacs crashed, and you have the Emacs process in the gdb debugger,
please include the output from the following gdb commands:
    `bt full' and `xbacktrace'.
