Until recently I had this line in my .emacs in order to get the file path
into the title bar of emacs (I work with files with the same name in
different locations, don't even go there)

(setq frame-title-format "%f")

Last week I upgraded my system and it stopped working.

Works for me. But my build is not a GTK build, perhaps this is
specific to GTK?

Thanks for checking. I might see if I can find the time to build from source
against an earlier gtk or other x toolkit. After my recent upgrade my instinct
is to wail and moan about Gnome 3 but I'm sure that's just me being irrational.
I'll mail to 14788@debbugs.gnu.org if I discover anything.

It works fine on Gtk 3 on Fedora 18 with Gnome 3. Can you reproduce the error
when starting Emacs with -Q?

Yes. I reduced my .emacs file to a single line

(setq frame-title-format "%f")

I just get "emacs@" followed by the hostname in the title bar.

If you managed to get it working on the same system specs then I suspect it must be something odd in the rest of my system configuration. I'll start taking a look
