I should have added that you can check whether your trunk checkout is
bound by looking at
/home/kifer/gnu/emacs/trunk/.bzr/branch/branch.conf -- here is mine:

parent_location = bzr+ssh://srb@bzr.savannah.gnu.org/emacs/trunk/
public_branch = bzr+ssh://srb@bzr.savannah.gnu.org/emacs/trunk
bound_location = bzr+ssh://srb@bzr.savannah.gnu.org/emacs/trunk/
