bug#16906: 24.3.50; Gnus hangs on g command (gnus-group-get-news) after changing wireless access point

For some time Gnus has been hanging when checking for new articles with
the g command (gnus-group-get-gnus) after changing wireless access
points.

Until yesterday, hitting C-g resolved the problem until the wireless
access point changed again. That is, after changing wireless access
point, one needed to do

g
C-g
g

or occassionally 

g
C-g
g
C-g
g

instead of just g.

After updates yesterday, this workaround no longer works. Now I need
either to restart Gnus, or issue at least three C-g commands.

Yesterday I updated to trunk Repository revision: 116586 from trunk of
about a week ago.

More important, possibly, is that during system updates, I went from

gnutls-3.1.17-2.fc19.x86_64 of Dec 5 2013 to
gnutls-3.1.18-3.fc19.x86_64 of Jan 2 2014.
