Ken,thanks for the heads-up. I have noticed the announcement and planned to give it a try as soon as I'm back in office next week. BTW I've upgraded to Emacs 24.4 and experienced one crash since, so upgrading Emacs itself does not fix the problem. I'm quite excited about the new Cygwin test release as it seems to fix a problem which would nicely explain the spurious and non-reproducible nature of these crashes.
