I said "etags", not "emacs".

For languages where qualified tags are already created, maybe.
(C-like languages might be not so easy, due to the state machines they
use.)  But are we sure all languages do?

I'm not sure "better than nothing" is good enough.

Anyway, I don't really understand what we are arguing about.
