bug#24587: 24.5; `dired-do-rename-regexp' does not support `query-replace-regexp' TO syntax |

The doc string of `dired-do-rename-regexp' says this, about the
replacement pattern:
NEWNAME may contain \\=\\<n> or \\& as in `query-replace-regexp'.
It does not say that it also supports the other syntax constructs that
`query-replace-regexp' supports for the replacement pattern, so this is
not a bug report per se, but rather an enhancement request.
Please enable `dired-do-rename-regexp' to fully support the replacement
patterns that `query-replace-regexp' supports.
See this answer by Phil S. to an emacs.stackexchange question for an
example of what should be possible:
http://emacs.stackexchange.com/a/27499/105
In GNU Emacs 24.5.1 (i686-pc-mingw32)
of 2015-04-11 on LEG570
Windowing system distributor `Microsoft Corp.', version 6.1.7601
Configured using:
`configure --prefix=/c/usr --host=i686-pc-mingw32'
