(I'm not sure why this does a bootstrap build.
Perhaps a bug in the rpm spec file?
Or perhaps it is policy to regenerate configure scripts?)

Is the AUTOMAKE environment variable set, and if so, what to?
Eg: echo ${AUTOMAKE-unset}
