I would really like to solve this problem, as it appears each few
times it does not work. 

I am starting Emacs under user "admin" who reads emails, and answering
on many, from mutt mail client.

Emacs is started as daemon from a supervision script:

/usr/bin/emacs --user admin --chdir /home/data1/protected

I am now going to test it through GDB, and will let you know, but I
think it should work without sudo.
