Cannot execute Lilypond

I have just installed (compiled) Lilypond,
but when I try to run it I get the following error message:

    lilypond: error in loading shared libraries: libguile.so.9: cannot open 
shared object file: No such file or directory

I have also (apparently correctly) installed guile and slib.

This error message also appears when I do

    make install

since it tries to compile generate-documentation.ly
