Follow-up Comment #5, bug #33039 (project pspp):
I found, that possibility to associated .sav and .por files was done 2 years
ago: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20834
Besides, in openSUSE 11.4:
address@hidden:~> gvfs-info *.por | grep -i content
standard::content-type: application/x-spss-por
standard::fast-content-type: application/x-spss-por
address@hidden:~> gvfs-info *.sav | grep -i content
standard::content-type: application/x-spss-sav
standard::fast-content-type: application/x-spss-sav
So please add MimeType
