suggestion: tar - overwrite of write-protected files

Hi, tar fails if it attempts to write over a write-protected file and I
couldn't find an option that would force it to overwrite the file (a.k.a.
"rm -f"). It would be nice to have such an option, named say --force, that
would instruct tar to overwrite files by archive members even if the file is
write-protected.

Here is an example of where it might be useful. I'd like to use tar to
synchronize data on my office and home computers via a slow connection. Each
day in the evening I prepare a tar file of files that have changed during
the day and extract from it at home. Some files in the archive are
write-protected because, for example, they are updated from Visual Source
Safe.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank you for developing and
maintenance of GNU utilities.

Thank you,
Vadim
