tar bug, maybe?

I ran into a problem with tar version 1.13.18, when I went back to
1.13.17 it went away. When attempting to do a backup using rmt (tar -cvf
new:/dev/nrmt0) it failed everytime with a input/output error and it
gave the devices as "new\:/dev/nrmt0". Notice the slash in there between
"new" and the colon? I didn't put that there yet the error message
always displayed it. I did not change my script ergo the tar command I'm
using, all I did was go back to 17 and the problem went away. (BTW new
is a machine defined in hosts.)
