grep version 2.4.2 (Mandrake Linux rpm) egrep ^[^^] file or egrep'^[^^]' file should match lines that don't start with a ^. Oddly enough, it will ONLY find lines that begin with ^. Thank You, Jorey Bump Web Site Project http://www.websiteproject.com/ mailto:address@hidden
