It's pure laziness. I've build a nice util that does all in once:

        # tbz c /tmp/aix-4.2 tests/testsuite.log

which thus saves the original name in the different tbz's. If you prefer, I'd
do

        # bzip2 < tests/testsuite.log > /tmp/aix-4.2.bz2

instead
