All I can tell you is that this is off-topic in this group / mailing 
list. You should start looking for FAQ's in the likes of these:

Personally I would recommend dumping sendmail in favor of Postfix. :)
  http://www.postfix.org/
It is much easier to configure, and probably somewhat more secure.
