gnutar 1.11.8 / multivolume archive

Trying to run a multivolume archive that will change the
tape to the next tape:

/usr/local/bin/gnutar -b8192 -M -F /usr/local/etc/convectInfoScript.sh
-cf /dev/rmt/tps5d2nsvc .

But get the error message:

/usr/local/bin/Ftar: (null): Bad address
sh: /usr/local/etc/convectInfoScript.sh: cannot execute

hydra 338# ls -la /usr/local/etc/convectInfoScript.sh 
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     sys          116 Jul 16 13:31
/usr/local/etc/convectInfoScript.sh

gnutar never runs the script because the script sends me a mail
message.  

Any suggestions appreciated.
