Unfortunately, it is necessary. Older libintl binaries are not
compatible with the newer ones, so the newer ones must be compatible
with the older ones. ;-)
I'd really like to have this feature at least for a transition period.
Compiling programs for OS/2 is not that easy. Downloading the source,
running configure, make, make install doesn't work most times.
Convincing the maintainers to update their packages will be
a long term task. ;-)
