Well, "makeinfo" also listens carefully to the spacing after a
dot, and to the number of consecutive blank lines. I think that's
a feature. I wouldn't like "makeinfo" to become LaTeX-like, i.e.
to become a program where the .texi writer has no control over the
spacing any more.
