Subject: Bug#199275: msgmerge segfaults on m68k

Package: gettext
Version: 0.12.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: program appears completely unusable on one arch

The most recent attempt to build the acl package on m68k, shown at
<http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.php?&pkg=acl&ver=2.2.11-1&arch=m68k&stamp=1055207649&file=log&as=raw>,
has failed due to a segfault in the msgmerge command. This failure is
reproducible on crest; it happens even if an empty .po and .pot file are
used, suggesting that it's not related to the contents of the files.

Backtrace follows.
