I respectfully disagree. See
http://www.fsf.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#WindowsRuntimeAndGPL which seems
to agree with my view; as msvcr70.dll is the run-time library that accompanies
the
compiler (MSVC).
Thank you for replying to my concerns. Although I disagree with your views
I try my best not to go against authors wishes regarding their works, so in
the future I will avoid using gettext or any application that relies on it
and a non-GPL'd (or GPL compatible) runtime.
