Bug#259730: gettext: Need to provide java runtime libintl.jar (fwd)

Hello.

I've received the following report from the debian bug system.

The Debian gettext package does not currently include java stuff because
at the time I tried to include it there was a bug in gcj which made
such thing to be inviable. This is the related debian changelog entry:

  - A file called libintl.jar was supposed to be created during the build,
but gcj is excluded as a valid Java compiler, so to ensure that the
package is built in exactly the same way on every architecture, there
    is now a Build-Conflicts: java-compiler. Sorry.

But this was in August 2002 and we have now gcj-3.3 as the default
java compiler. Do you know whether the problem gcj had is now fixed,
or can tell me whether or not I should expect problems with gcj-3.3?
