That's not what I said. "End of life" for a platform doesn't mean "dead".
It means that the platform still has a lot of users, and that programs
ported earlier to that platform still see occasional bugfixes and security
fixes. It also means that ports of new program releases are rarely attempted,
because new releases need more memory or a newer GCC version or rely on
features not available in the older platform.

The current list of ports

shows that some packages are well maintained (GCC, libtool, ...) whereas
other ports are outdated (automake 1.7.6, gettext 0.10.40, tar 1.12) or
simply missing (gcj, wget, lynx).

The problem that you are encountering now is that the DJGPP porters stopped
updating the gettext ports three years ago, yet you insist on having the
newest 'make' version available.
