Did you have a problem (error, failure or so) with the existing code?
If so, which one, and under which conditions (`uname -a`,
`echo $CC $CPPFLAGS $CFLAGS`)?

Thanks, but the patch looks like a nop, since the affected code is inside
an AC_TRY_LINK, i.e. it is never executed.
