You are missing a macro from gnulib[1],

For CVS checkouts, you needed autotools anyway?  Some corrupt time
stamps trigger their reruns?

Hmm.  glocale package?  Maybe a followup error due to the missing gnulib
files?

BTW, it would be easier if you did like this:
  make >makelog 2>&1

then the error output would be better in line with the commands that
created it.
