Bug database for diffutils |

It seems to me that having a bug database (ie. Bugzilla) for diffutils
would be beneficial to the project. The current system of using a
mailing list to track bugs tends to cause people to forget about bugs,
especially those that aren't discussed much when initially reported.
Perhaps there's a good reason for using a mailing list for bug
tracking rather than using a bug database, as projects like Gnash do.
But it is not immediately apparent to me what this reason is.
Apologies if this is posted in some obvious place that I have
neglected to read.
I would suggest this for other projects (besides diffutils) in the
category of GNU utils, but I'm not exactly sure which projects fall
into that category and, of those, which do or do not use bug
databases.
