Ok, this seems to work:
# Avoid line numbers in *.po, but keep them in *.pot.
MSGMERGE = msgmerge --no-location
MSGMERGE_UPDATE = msgmerge --no-location --update
MSGFILTER = msgfilter --no-location
I'll roll a release with this now to see how well it works in real life.
