Of course...

As said it's just a bit strange behaviour, if at one side the symlink is
followed ("per default") but not on the oder side (unless
--follow-symlinks is given).


Anyway,... you haven't spend words on my suggestion to change the
default to be --follow-symlinks and replace that by a
--no-follow-symlinks ?

Would make the behaviour more consistent... and be more what one
expects.
