GNUBG build 02Dec01, WinME
The new format for the player records is much easier to read and browsing is much improved. I've noticed something strange with the data reported: Almost all my opponents have luck ratings of either "Go to Las Vegas Immediately", or "haaaa-haaaa". (I suppose this could actually be correct, since I can only be beaten by incredibly lucky opponents or cheaters, and I always gloat over my inevitable wins :-)) I also noticed when i try to save a match analysis to player records using an "older" build (2002Nov19) I get an error message: "./.gnubgpr: invalid record file". Trying to access player records from the older build gives the message "no player records found" I'm not sure, but I'm guessing the indications are related since I noticed them about the same time. Perhaps a change in the way the player records are being read and recorded to support the new format. Aside from the luck ratings, the player record information (checker, cube, overall) appears to be correct. I also find it a bit odd that in the "data" window of the player records display, there is a column for the qualitative luck rating, but not for any of the other qualitative ratings. That column is also the only one with no header. IMHO listing either all or none of the qualitative columns would be more consistent, and if only one qualitative rating was listed it should be "overall skill" instead of the luck rating. Just a thought. Can all the old player-record data be restored? Could I be causing a problem by having an older Oeystein build and a newer Nardy build installed to the same directory? Ned |
