Hmmm.... can this be because of the elevation
beeing 90 degrees? Some kind of division with cos(90)
somewhere?

Yes, I see! It wasn't me who generated the xpm.

I can see this at my screen as well.

Agree, The only way to get the appearence string is by saving
all settings. Maybe there should be a way to save just the
apperance string.
