OK - it's done and committed. Using a copy of
http://pages.quicksilver.net.nz/pepe/ngb/gnubg.weights.newrace.gz
fetched this morning, I get a file (under Unix) with the following
properties (don't know if sum or md5 is available for the Windows
build environment):

address@hidden:/home/jes/gnubg# ./makeweights <../gnubg.weights.newrace -f
gnubg.wd
3 nets converted

address@hidden:/home/jes/gnubg# ls -l gnubg.wd
-rw-r--r-- 1 jes group 376972 Dec 13 08:15 gnubg.wd

address@hidden:/home/jes/gnubg% sum gnubg.wd
19238 369 gnubg.wd

address@hidden:/home/jes/gnubg% md5 gnubg.wd
MD5 (gnubg.wd) = 67e0b6d7743c420ce47cd9eda2687e89
