I see. I'm not very well versed in shell scripting, so I didn't grasp
the usefulness of "x$foo". I also noticed that upgrading to the
Mandrake RPMs fixed the problem, its freetype-config --version and
--libs reports differently from the previous installed one did
(--cflags probably does too). I'll investigate it further and report
on what I find.
