I reckon it would be quite large. The file in CVS (typically) holds the
original file plus all the deltas. For example, the ChangeLog file has
approximately 1000 deltas. 

My estimate would be at least twice the size of the checked out files.

I've never tried it. Try googling with "cvs mirror".
