2 and 3 not meant to be reversed.

1. backup .gnubgautorc
2. run gnubg (with settings of autoRC)
3. delete .gnubgautorc
4. save settings

That way, you get a 'clean' .gnubgautorc, keeping (almost) all
settings you had.

When you reverse 2 and 3, you get a brand new .gnubgautorc with the
default settings of gnubg.

Thanks, I see what you mean now. I just tried the above and it made no impact on the observed bug (the bug still exists). I would have tried this a few days ago, but I've been busy doing long overnight rollouts of unusual positions.

(just to clarify. it won't have impact on the bug you mentioned)

Ok, I won't worry about it, although if anyone else reports the bug and you wish to do some testing, let me know if I can help with my machine. I also plan to do a clean installation of gnubg (from Oystein's most recent installation archive) on a laptop which has never had any version of gnubg installed before. It will be interesting to see what happens on my laptop (with respect to this bug).
