Indeed, it is. But..

Look at how successful Linux is on the desktop. And those parts that begin 
to make it successful don't look that much like Unix. (Besides, I know that 
KDE nor Gnome have nothing to do with Linux.)

For the desktop you'll have to deal with the average user that merely and 
at most _uses_  a _few_ programmes. (S)He doesn't master even those.

And gnubg is a desktop programme.
