This is one part in a serious of problem in the playlist interaction.
I hope to do something about it in the not too far future. It is impractical at this time because it is a large change, affecting everything, and right now many people are adding lots of stuff.

Also, I will be "out of my office" for the next 8 weeks :)

It is GREAT that everyone is adding so many new features to GNU ....tyvm.  As a 
suggestion, when someone adds a new feature it would really helpful it they 
would add a few paragraphs about the feature and how to use it.  Maybe these 
could be added to a web page like 'Change Log'.  When someone had nothing 
better to do they could add something about old features and menu choices.
