The g_atomic* calls in MT_Lock/Release just didn't work - with 2 threads
the count was getting too high/low causing the threads to lock.  Given
that I just changed the 3 lines which were equivalent windows calls,
they must not work as expected - maybe you'll have more luck with your
version of glib on linux.
