Has anyone ever looked into alternate compilers (such as those sold by Intel)? Is there an ethical/principled issue against using non-OpenSource? The goal would be increased speed due to better optimization, etc. For example, I believe the *Intel® C++ Compiler Professional Edition for Linux* *has a free trial download and academic price around $170. (~$2k commercial license).
