I wonder for the existence of any particular position(s), when it is correct:

1. Player X to double, and player Y to take it.

Player X rolls next. Then, it is correct again:

2. Player Y to re-double, then player X to pass.

As Ian points out, such situations are common. However I must say that in practical over-the-board backgammon, it is one of the most psychological challenging situations for X to make the correct pass. X will often feel a bitterness in such situations and incorrectly accept the cube. The obvious situations that is psychologically more challenging (which also occurs) is when Player X doubles (maybe even too good), and player Y incorrectly takes... and then after the next unlucky roll player X faces a re-cube he should drop. A lot of players will incorrectly take that cube!
