No, I wrote onceonly.m4 from scratch. I've added an AC_PREREQ now to
make things clearer.

The onceonly_2_57.m4 has the advantage that it produces smaller
configure files, but it uses several undocumented internals of
autoconf. Therefore it may break sometime in the future, and then
we'll have to fall back on onceonly.m4 which is not so much optimized.

Would be good. But I'm not so familiar with these m4_* macros.
