    What's the license of Gnulib?

I just updated the COPYING file, and found the following:

1) doc/maintain.texi has a verbatim-copying-only license.
2) doc/standards.texi and make-stds.texi are GFDL.

However, since you didn't mention doc, I guess these won't be
problematic for you. BTW, gnulib was never intended to be "installed".
It's intended to be shared at the source level. But if you want to do it ...

Also:

3) lib/getsubopt* are LGPL. It seems they were copied by someone from
libc at some point and the licenses were not changed. Should they be
added to srclist.txt? Can someone explain the situation?

4) In general, I find the continuing change creep so that we can no
longer use the canonical sources from elsewhere troublesome. It
would be ok if there was any hope of the changes ever getting merged
back. But this does not seem to be the case.
